ECOM trivia - can you match the Mensans? |
|
At the Dec. 2011 Final Friday Fling members and guests enjoyed (and struggled with) these trivia questions assembled by Barbara and Jim McIntyre. The questions were divided into three sections, and ten minutes were allowed for each section. I think the winner got only 26 of the 50 questions so this is not trivial trivia. How do YOU do? Answers on the Members Only web page.
ECOM Trivia
Words
1. Why, why, why can’t I think of a better clue for this six-letter word that refers to an alignment of planets?
2. From Latin, meaning “to speak from the stomach,” the Greeks called it gastromancy. Don’t be a dummy: tell me the word of which I’m thinking.
3. Draw an Octothorpe.

Your first few meetings, you wonder how you ever got in; after that, you wonder how everyone else got in. Is "Mensa etiquette" an oxymoron? You decide..
Rule One: "Don't ask; don't tell." Applies to all IQ tests, including Mensa's. It's all right to say you took the test, or used your old high school scores, without using exact figures. It's not that Mensans are snobbish -- or reverse-snobbish -- about IQ scores; in most cases they just aren't relevant once you've qualified. We're more interested in enjoying social activities with Mensa-caliber companions than with who has the bigger IQ.
